Leadership

The principal mandate of ERAAAD is to function as a world centre of research, expertise, standardization of techniques and dissemination of knowledge in the specialized area of aquatic animal diseases.

The two parent institutions are the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) of the University of Prince Edward Island, Canada, and the Norwegian Veterinary Institute (NVI), Norway. They are equal partners in the Centre, with the leadership rotating bi-annually between them.

The two designated co-chairs function as the primary contacts:

Larry Hammell  Dr. Larry Hammell from the AVC

Edgar Brun  Dr. Edgar Brun from the NVI

Governance is accomplished through a Board of Directors consisting of three representatives from each parent organization.

The Board meets as necessary, at least twice per year. Responsibility for funding of core Centre activities, including shared costs of its co-management, resides within each participating institution. Each institution commits to full engagement and inclusion of the other on research and training activities arising from the Centre’s programs.

For 2017, Dr. Hammell is the designated the managing Director and the principal contact for collaboration with ERAAAD.
